Yellow1955 Chevrolet 150 “Post” – Classic Muscle with a Bold Yellow Finish
This 1955 Chevrolet 150 “Post” stands out with its eye-catching yellow paint, a nod to the iconic look of John Milner’s 1932 coupe from American Graffiti. It shares a similar shape to Harrison Ford’s black 150 from the same film, blending classic muscle car styling with modern-day performance. A monochrome yellow exterior, complete with Cragar SS wheels and aggressive chrome exhaust tips, creates a striking visual presence. The “post” design features a bold yellow B-pillar that separates the cabin from the rest of the car, adding a distinctive look.
Exterior:
The bright yellow paint job, reminiscent of a vintage movie car, covers the sleek bodywork, with a few imperfections like slight unevenness in the paint and some mismatched yellow on the passenger door. The panel gaps are good but not perfect. The Cragar SS wheels wear 70-series tires, enhancing the car’s tall stance. The car also features chrome exhaust tips that extend beyond the rear bumper, adding to its aggressive look. Though the exterior is mostly solid, it shows the character and charm of a classic muscle car, with a couple of minor paint imperfections worth noting.
Interior:
The interior features a black velour material that covers the door panels and split bench front seats. The driver’s side shows slight compression but is still in very good shape. The backseat bench is equally well-kept, all wrapped in the same pleated black velour pattern. The stock black steering wheel leads to a yellow-framed dashboard that adds a pop of color and includes a tachometer with a yellow shift light. The original arched speedometer is in place, and the dash is outfitted with bowtie-stamped trim. A three-gauge pod is mounted below the lower dash, and an AM/FM/Cassette radio adds a nostalgic touch. The B&M shifter rises from the floor, accompanied by black loop carpet in great condition. The headliner is in good shape, though there’s a small hole, and the trunk is neatly equipped with a fitted rubber mat and a spare Cragar wheel.
Drivetrain:
Under the hood, you’ll find a rebuilt 327ci V8 engine, bored .030 over, and equipped with an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor. Headers are bolted to the sides, enhancing the engine’s performance and sound. A shift kit has been added to the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, which transfers power to the rear axle with 3.36 gears. The car is equipped with power brakes, featuring discs in the front and drums in the rear. The engine bay is exceptionally clean, showcasing the care and maintenance this car has received.
Undercarriage:
The underside of the car is in very clean, better-than-driver condition. It shows minimal surface rust, with just a few residual oil drops on the pans and rear differential. The dual exhaust system features an H-pipe and stock-style mufflers, leading to the chrome exhaust tips. The suspension is handled by coil springs in the front and leaf springs in the rear, ensuring a smooth ride.
Drive-Ability:
The 327 V8 engine roars to life with a raucous rumble and powers the car down the road with authority. The car delivers good power, but we do note some slop in the steering. However, it tracks straight, and the brakes perform well. Some features, including the horn, reverse lights, speedometer, odometer, and tachometer, are not currently operating. All other functions on the car are working as expected.
