Automatic1951 Nash Rambler Sedan Delivery – One-of-a-Kind Custom Build
Vehicle Overview: This unique 1951 Nash Rambler Sedan Delivery was meticulously built by Johnny Young between 1989-1990. Featuring an all-steel body, it still sports the original “Sherbert” enamel paint job with distinctive graphics. This custom creation is available for sale with NO TRADES.
Chassis and Suspension:
- Custom Chassis: Original build by Ace Hardgrove using 2×4 square tubing.
- Front End: 1969 Mustang front end with rack & pinion steering.
- Rear End: 9” Ford differential with 4.88 posi-traction gears and TCI 4-link suspension.
- Tires: 31.5” x 15” Pro Trac tires on the rear, 205/65/15 radials up front.
- Wheels: Custom-made Chevrolet Rally wheels.
- Brakes: 4-wheel disc (non-power).
Engine and Transmission:
- Engine: Rebuilt 355 c.i. small block Chevy with a Weiand 6-71 supercharger and Weber carburetors. The short block was align honed, and the forged rotating assembly was balanced with 9.5:1 pistons. Features a Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam with roller rockers, MSD ignition, and long tube headers with 3” side exhaust.
- Transmission: Rebuilt Turbo 350 with a reverse manual valve body and B&M shifter. Equipped with a TCI converter with a 2800 rpm stall. Both the engine and transmission have fewer than 1,000 miles since the rebuild.
Interior:
- Interior Trim: Tweed interior, largely unchanged since 1990.
- Gauges: Autometer water temperature, oil pressure, and voltmeter gauges. The speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauges are currently non-functional.
- Stereo: 1990s AC Delco unit.
- Lighting: All exterior and interior lights, including turn signals, are operational.
Additional Features:
- Door Operation: The vehicle has door poppers, but accessing the heavy steel doors via the vent windows is often the most effective method.
- Condition: Despite being a 32-year-old build, the car continues to run and sound great. It remains a showstopper at car shows and cruise events, although some areas exhibit age-related wear (please review photos for details).
This 1951 Nash Rambler Sedan Delivery combines classic style with modern performance and is a standout piece in any car collection. If you’re looking for a unique, crowd-drawing classic, this one-of-a-kind custom build could be yours.
