Manual1943 Jeep with Original 2.2L Go Devil WW2 Engine
This 1943 Jeep is powered by the original 4-cylinder 2.2L Go Devil WW2 engine paired with a manual transmission. It runs well for an 82-year-old vehicle, reaching a top speed of around 45 mph, but for safety, I recommend driving at about 40 mph.
This Jeep regularly attends local car shows, and it’s always a crowd favorite due to its iconic presence.
What Needs to Be Done
As with any 82-year-old vehicle, there are a few things to address:
Horn: The horn does not work. I chose not to install an aftermarket horn, but the siren is fully functional.
Emergency Brake Handle: The emergency brake handle is missing, but I have already ordered a replacement and will install it as soon as it arrives.
Oil Pressure Gauge: The oil pressure gauge is not working, but I plan to address it soon.
Recent Maintenance & Updates
New spark plugs: The Jeep starts right up and runs great.
New tires.
Rebuilt carburetor.
New coil, water pump, belts, spark plugs, and wires.
Upper and lower radiator hoses replaced.
Restored generator.
Fresh oil change.
New decals.
Condition
This Jeep has its original body and panels. The front floors had a few small rust spots, which have been repaired. Overall, it’s a solid vehicle and not a full restoration, but it remains true to its original design. The engine appears to have been rebuilt some time ago and shows no signs of oil leaks. The Jeep likely spent most of its life in California, though the exact duration is unknown.
