1978 Pontiac Trans Am Y88 Special Edition – Survivor

This is an original survivor Y88 Special Edition Trans Am, equipped with the Pontiac 400 engine and automatic transmission. The title reflects actual mileage.

Paint & Body:
Estimated to retain approximately 60–70% of its original paint. The decals appear to be original and show some natural aging. Both doors seem to have had paintwork done in the past. Under certain lighting, a color variation can be seen, which I’ve tried to show in the photos.

From what I’ve read, this was a common issue when new—Pontiac had trouble matching the gold Y88 paint from panel to panel. There is a factory bulletin from the 1978 period addressing this.

This car is a great original example to either preserve as-is or have the doors repainted and blended for better color consistency, depending on your preference.

Tires were installed about 8 years ago and have fewer than 1,000 miles on them
