RedDiscover the epitome of classic automotive ingenuity with this unique 1934 Ford Coupe Zipper. A nod to the rich history of the hot rod culture, this car is a modern interpretation of the street rods that once dominated the Southern California racing scene. The vehicle showcases a clean title and has been meticulously crafted and maintained to deliver both performance and style.
Exterior
Exquisitely crafted from durable, non-rusting fiberglass, the exterior of this coupe delivers a distinctively sleek racer look. The elongated body and lowered profile are complemented by a track-style grille and chrome trimmed headlights. An elegant black and red paint scheme is accented by a sweeping silver inlay that wraps around the body, capturing a sense of motion even when stationary. The fenderless design, highlighted by exposed chrome header pipes, completes the aesthetic, set off by highly polished Weld Rodlite wheels with radials on both front and rear.
Interior
Step into a haven of red leather luxury with tuck and roll inserts and smooth bolsters that provide unparalleled comfort. The centerpiece is the contoured bench seat, home to a custom pistol grip Hurst shifter. The refined design continues on the door panels and rear, using smooth gray panels enhanced by black inserts. Features include a quick-release three-spoke steering wheel, Shark white-faced gauges embedded within a classic black dash, and lightly soiled charcoal carpeting, enhancing the vintage vibe.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, experience the power of a 350ci Chevrolet V8 engine, spectacularly dressed in chrome with ribbed covers and an Edelbrock air cleaner assembly. Fuel is efficiently managed by a Holley 4bbl carburetor paired with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold. Power transmits through a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission to a chrome-plated Winters quick change rear axle. An electric cooling fan and custom chrome headers ensure optimal performance and a powerful, raucous exhaust note.
Undercarriage
The undercarriage of this Ford Coupe Zipper is as impressive as its topside, boasting a chrome I-beam front axle fitted with Zipper friction-style knee action shocks and a refined 4-bar arrangement. The independent rear axle houses a transverse leaf spring and additional knee action shocks. Disc brakes by Wilwood enhance stopping capabilities, making this vehicle just as much about function as it is about flash.
Drive-ability
This Ford Coupe Zipper promises a thrilling driving experience. The vehicle’s performance is complemented by handy features like suicide doors and a quick-release steering wheel, ensuring ease of access. This street rod excels not only in looks but also in performance, offering remarkable handling and braking abilities.
This exceptional Ford Coupe is indeed a rare collector’s piece, being one of only two cars built by the visionary Darrell Zipp and his team. A fusion of classic design and modern engineering, it is perfectly poised to find a home with an owner who appreciates the art of street rods.
