Under the big, counterbalanced hood sits Cadillac’s legendary 331 CID V8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor. It’s paired with a Hydramatic four-speed automatic transmission and a 3.07:1 rear differential. For added driver convenience, the car features power brakes, power windows, and the innovative Autronic Eye.
Inside, you’ll find factory-correct two-tone green plain broadcloth upholstery (code 77). Both the front and rear bench seats are in excellent condition. A large, two-spoke steering wheel frames the rectangular instrument cluster housing the speedometer and ancillary gauges. The dark green carpeting remains in good, original condition. Please note that the fuel and temperature gauges are currently inoperative.
The two-tone dash looks great and includes a factory AM radio, as well as a heater and defroster for added comfort.
For 1953, the Sixty Special was largely a carryover model, as Cadillac focused on the introduction of the new Eldorado convertible. Still, the Sixty Special remained one of the marque’s most luxurious offerings. Available as a four-door sedan (and briefly as a four-door hardtop), this model featured subtle updates for 1953, including wider rocker panel moldings, repositioned chrome louvers higher on the rear doors, and a revised grille and bumper.
