Description:
This 1955 Buick Series 40 Special Riviera Hardtop is a stunning example of 50s automotive design, combining bold style with classic luxury. The Dover White and Turquoise two-tone exterior demands attention, with its massive chrome bumpers, V-shaped body trim, portholes, and meticulously detailed gas tank trim. The wide whitewall tires, mounted on 15-inch red-rimmed steel wheels with correct Buick hubcaps, give the car a perfect vintage look.
The only noticeable flaw on the exterior is some bubbling and minor rust appearing at the lower sections of the car, but overall, it is a show-ready classic.
Inside, the car offers a great starting point for restoration. The door panels are in good condition, featuring gray over black patterned vinyl, and the door jambs are bright and clean. The front split-bench seat needs some attention, as the cloth is tattered, though the seat shell is still in good shape. The rear seat shows some staining but remains intact. The door sidewalls continue the door panel design and are in excellent condition. The dashboard features a beautiful black and gray design with a horn-ring steering wheel and a column-mounted shifter. The dual gauge cluster and glossy dash cover are in very good condition, and the original AM radio adds to the car’s classic appeal. The interior also features black loop carpet and a tan headliner that could be updated to brighten the cabin.
Under the hood, the 264ci Nailhead V8 is clean and ready for show. It is equipped with a newer 4-barrel carburetor and Pertronix ignition, paired with a Dynaflow 2-speed automatic transmission and a 3.60 rear axle. The car also comes with drum brakes and a new master cylinder for dependable stopping power.
The undercarriage is in solid condition, with minor surface rust in a few areas. The big X-frame provides stability, while the suspension components are well-protected. There is some buildup near the wheels and suspension, but a bit of cleaning would restore it to show-ready condition. The exhaust system is in stock form, with a muffler exiting on the right rear.
