1956 Chevy Pickup – LS1 Powered, 6-Speed, Custom Build

This custom 1956 Chevy pickup is powered by a fuel-injected Corvette 5.7L LS1 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The drivetrain is upgraded with a serpentine belt system, Sanderson headers, and a complete exhaust system featuring Xcelerator mufflers and 2½” tailpipes. Fuel is stored in a 16-gallon stainless steel gas tank, accessed through the bed.

The all-steel body is straight and features excellent fit and finish, showcasing a stunning 2-stage urethane Candy Apple Green Metallic paint. All chrome components—including bumpers, door handles, grille, and headlight rims—are brand new. Glass and weather stripping have also been replaced. The bed is finished with custom wood slats and a “wrinkle” texture on the bed sidewalls. Taillights are upgraded to LEDs.

Inside, the sharp leather interior includes 6-way power seats, leather-wrapped dash, door panels, and headliner. A Dakota Digital dash provides gauges for speed, RPM, oil pressure, fuel, water temperature, and voltage. The adjustable chrome Ididit steering column is topped with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Additional features include a Vintage Air A/C and heat unit (needs charging; does not currently blow cold) and an AUX stereo.

Underneath, the stock Chevy truck frame has been updated with a Mustang II independent front suspension, coilover shocks, a custom steering box, and Borgeson steering joints. The rear features leaf springs and a Ford 9” differential with 3.50:1 posi-traction gears. Braking is handled by a Wilwood 4-wheel power disc brake system, with the booster and master cylinder mounted under the cab.

The truck rides on Coys Custom aluminum wheels—18” up front and 20” in the rear—wrapped in Roadclaw RH 660 tires (225/40R18 front, 255/35R20 rear).
