BlueCustom 427 Cobra Replica – Immaculate Exterior & High-Performance Drivetrain
This stunning Cobra replica is a work of art, featuring a deep Medium Blue Metallic exterior with perfectly applied charcoal racing stripes. The car sits low on its 15-inch knock-off wheels and 60-series tires (mid-2022 date code), giving it a sharp, aggressive stance. The dramatic front end features a large radiator inlet flanked by chrome bumperettes, and the rounded hood flows seamlessly over raised fenders with single headlights. A small hood scoop helps channel airflow, while the upright windscreen and wind guards shield the driver from high-speed wind. At the rear, the sculpted hips of the car house round lights split between amber and red, with a chrome roll bar mounted behind the driver. Polished side pipes and dramatic side vents enhance the sleek, shark-like silhouette of this showstopper. The only imperfection on the exterior is a single chip in the paint.
Interior:
The interior features race-inspired black leather door panels with simple pleated map pockets, both in excellent condition. The bucket seats, black leather replicas of the original Cobra units, are outfitted with five-point racing harnesses for a secure fit. The wood-rimmed steering wheel is in great condition and complements the leather-wrapped dashboard. The dashboard hosts black-faced AutoMeter gauges, including a matching clock. A white knobbed floor-mounted shifter rises from the transmission hump, which is covered in low-pile black carpet that extends to the back wall and remains in excellent condition.
Drivetrain:
Under the hood lies a spotless 427ci side oiler V8, equipped with dual 4-barrel Holley carburetors. The engine is paired with a Tremec 3550 5-speed manual transmission that sends power to a Ford 8.8″ rear end with a 3.73 gear setup, as stated by the consignor. The exhaust system features wrapped headers, directing exhaust gases into the side pipes. Up front, 11-inch disc brakes provide superior stopping power, while drums are used at the rear. The engine, built by Mike Gephart, is rated at 432 horsepower, and the car is equipped with MSD ignition, an oil cooler, and a remote oil filter.
Undercarriage:
The tubular frame beneath the fiberglass body is exceptionally clean. The car has seen limited use, leaving the underside with only a light dusting, and there are no signs of surface rust or oil leaks. The front suspension uses coil springs, while the rear features a 4-link coil setup. The exhaust runs from the headers into a collector that splits into four pipes, connecting to the side pipes. The oil pan is painted to match the body color for added aesthetic appeal.
Drive-Ability:
This Cobra replica delivers more than enough power, exceptional grip, and precise handling. The crisp shifting from the Tremec transmission allows for quick acceleration, and the sound from the side pipes is nothing short of glorious. The cabin is comfortable, with enough wind protection to allow you to enjoy the ride without the worry of bugs hitting your teeth. All the limited functions of this race replica operate as intended during our test drive. However, while Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of the test drive, we cannot guarantee they will be in working order at the time of purchase.
