The chassis has been upgraded to an Art Morrison unit, and performance is handled by a powerful 501ci V8 engine and Wilwood brakes.
Exterior:
The car is finished in a stunning Nutmeg metallic paint, providing a deep, high-gloss finish that showcases the original, straight steel body panels. The gaps and alignment reflect the countless hours spent ensuring flawless fitment. Features include stacked front headlights, a large horizontal grille, and a shiny front bumper. A Crites fiberglass 427 ram air hood is fitted, nearly flawless, with a stainless mesh insert. The exterior is further accented by polished stainless trim and lightly tinted glass, while the absence of side emblems adds to its sleek look. At the rear, vertical rectangular tail lights and a squared trunk lid are framed by a polished bumper and 45-degree angle exhaust tips. Interior:
The interior is completely new, with meticulous attention to detail. High-back ProCar Touring bucket seats, inspired by the original design, feature narrow tuck and roll inserts and smooth black vinyl bolsters. Between the seats is a custom black leather booted shifter. The original bench seat in the rear has been reupholstered to match the front buckets. The dash retains its original form but has been upgraded with Dakota Digital gauges, including dual tachometers (digital and analog). A wood-rimmed, 3-spoke billet steering wheel sits on an adjustable column, with the original AM radio replaced by a modern Bluetooth, aux-out, and hands-free unit. The sound system includes 6×9 speakers, a subwoofer, and a factory-spec dash-mounted speaker for high-quality audio. The cabin also features new black carpeting and a taut vinyl black headliner.
Drivetrain:
Although the original VIN code indicates a 390ci V8, this car has been upgraded with a Ford 429ci V8-based stroker engine, now displacing 501ci. The engine has been built with top-quality components, including a Scat rotating assembly, reworked 429 cylinder heads, and a Quickfuel Brawler 4-barrel carburetor atop a Weiand Stealth intake manifold. The engine is adorned with polished Ford Racing valve covers and a polished air cleaner assembly, providing an aesthetically pleasing and powerful package. An MSD ignition system and billet distributor ensure reliable spark, while a polished March serpentine system manages the accessories. Cooling is handled by an aluminum radiator with twin fans. Power is transferred via a new Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission to a Ford 9-inch rear axle with 3.89 gearing and Strange internals. The exhaust exits through shorty headers and a 3-inch stainless steel exhaust system.
Undercarriage:
The undercarriage is in excellent condition, featuring a rust-free one-piece floor pan and an Art Morrison chassis that has converted the car to a full-frame design. The chassis is hidden within the rocker panels for a clean look. The front suspension is a Mustang 2-style setup with adjustable coilovers and power rack-and-pinion steering. The rear suspension uses a triangulated 4-bar with adjustable coilovers. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and electronic power assist.
