1971 Citroën DS 21 – Four-Speed Semi-Automatic

This 1971 Citroën DS 21 four-speed semi-automatic was manufactured in 1970 for the 1971 model year. The vehicle was purchased in 2020 from a previous owner in Arizona, which explains the lack of rust on the chassis and the overall solid condition of the car.

The prior owner, reportedly a retired electrical engineer, had performed numerous unconventional electrical modifications that created a wiring mess. At my request, Dave Burnham—a respected Citroën repair and restoration specialist in upstate New York—removed the modified wiring, replaced the forward wiring harness, and eliminated anything not done to Citroën standards. The list of corrections is extensive and was completed to make this DS a reliable “daily driver.”

Based on my experience as a former French police officer who drove many DS models in my younger years, I can confidently say this is a fine example of a DS that has been brought to a high standard mechanically, hydraulically, and electrically.
