Description:
This 1947 Packard Super Clipper Eight 4-door sedan stands as a testament to classic American luxury and craftsmanship. With its elegant two-tone paint job and original drivetrain, it offers both historical charm and reliable performance.
Exterior:
Paint & Body: The sedan is finished in its original two-tone color combination of Coral Blue Metallic and Vanderbilt Silver Metallic. The paint was redone around the time of the 1979 inspection sticker, and the body appears very solid. Minor chips and scratches from age are present, but there is no bubbling or rust coming through. Some past work is evident on the right passenger rear door and right lower front fender, but overall, the exterior is well-maintained.
Chrome & Trim: The original chrome and stainless steel are believed to be in very good condition, adding to the car’s classic appeal.
Interior:
Condition: The interior is in fantastic condition, with the upholstery believed to have been redone at some point. It maintains the classic Packard style and luxury.
Gauges & Features: Factory gauges are functional, supplemented by two aftermarket gauges for oil pressure and water temperature. The original clock and radio are not operational. Windows are in excellent condition and operate smoothly.
Mechanical & Maintenance:
Engine & Transmission: The original 356 c.i. inline 8-cylinder engine, paired with a matching 3-speed manual transmission, was rebuilt approximately 5 years and 3,000 miles ago. A new clutch pack was also installed during this time.
Recent Work:
Shocks and rear springs replaced 3 years ago.
Basic tune-up performed 1 year ago.
Brake shoes and hardware replaced 2 years ago.
Additional Information:
History: While detailed history is scarce, it is known that the car came from Florida, as indicated by a 1979 inspection sticker. The current owner purchased the Packard 12 years ago and has driven it approximately 6,000 miles, including a caravan trip to Canada.
Note: No trades will be considered.
Summary:
This 1947 Packard Super Clipper Eight 4-door sedan combines timeless style with a solid mechanical foundation. With its well-maintained original features, elegant two-tone finish, and recent mechanical updates, this Packard is ready for new adventures and shows.
